Special Libraries Association

Founded in 1909 in New York, the SLA is now the international association representing the interests of thousands of information professionals in over eighty countries worldwide.

The SLA’s Advocacy program is dedicated to promoting the value of information professionals and the profession. This includes Public Policy issues, advocating the profession to employers, the public, and others. The Program monitors and actively works to shape legislation and regulatory proposals that affect SLA’s membership.

The SLA holds events and conferences throughout the country to educate members on today's changing technology and more demanding management expectations information professionals are faced with.

The SLA also puts out an E-Newsletter and several other publications to reach its members.
