National Library Legislative Day

Established by the ALA in 1974, National Library Legislative Day gives librarians across the country the chance and time to speak to members of Congress about their libraries' needs.

Each year, hundreds of library supporters go to Washington D.C. to participate in the two-day event featuring advocacy and issue training sessions, Capitol Hill insiders as speakers, and a visit to congressional member offices on Capitol Hill.

Event those not able to travel to Washington can participate in National Library Legislative Day by organizing supporters in their state to phone, fax and email Congress their stories, needs and concerns of their libraries.
