National Archives and Records Administration is established

The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) was established in 1934 to combine the responsibilities previously held by individual government organizations. President Franklin D. Roosevelt created the NARA and the National Historic Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC) when he signed the National Archives Act on June 19, 1934
