1970 - The Black Caucus of the American Library Association is founded.
1970 - 3M Library Systems installs the first 'tattle tape' system at St. Paul Public Library.

1977 - The Cooperative Children's Book Center, a research library of the University of Wisconsin-Madison's School of Education with a collection exclusively of children's and young adult's books and materials, begins its Intellectual Freedom Services for teachers and librarians around the state of Wisconsin.
