1890s

 

1894 - A motion picture deposit was begun at the Library of Congress.

 

1895 - Library education began in Wisconsin with a summer school founded by the Wisconsin Free Library Commission. The summer school would eventually become the School of Library and Information Studies at UW-Madison.

 

1896 - A Library Department is created by the National Education Association.

 

1896 - Anne Carroll Moore named head of the children’s department at the Pratt Institute Free Library, Brooklyn, NY.

 

1896- Traveling Libraries in Wisconsin

 

1897 - Library of Congress opens its doors on Nov. 1.
