May 4- Laura Bush has announced that 10 Gulf Coast school libraries damaged by Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, and Wilma are going to receive both financial grants and a full set of "Life" magazines. The money comes from the Laura Bush Foundation's Gulf Coast Library Recovery Initiative.
Following the hurricanes, the librarian of Goreflo Elementary School in Biloxi, Mississippi reported that only 7 books from the collection numbering 13,000 could be saved. The White House estimates that it costs about $50,000 to rebuild an elementary school book collection and $100,000 for a high school library.
